Anything But My Coffee

This image, although making a
point about America's coffee addiction, makes other points too. The main point
is that people would rather give up buying lunch, or new water bottles than
skip their morning coffee. This is ironic because people who buy coffee every
morning, me being one of them, spend so much on coffee every year. When we
think about cutting back on spending, that is always in the back of our minds,
but it is just too good, too addictive to give up. There are more arguments
that could be taken from these percentages, even if that’s not the point of the
image. One of them is that Americans will switch to refillable water bottles to
save money, which is a selfish reason. We consider it to save money, but not
because disposable water bottles use more plastic and are bad for the Earth?
There are also health benefits to stop buying a morning coffee too, but that is
probably the last reason any of us will give up our precious caffeine. This image
might also suggest that people would much rather go out to eat than pack a
lunch. This may convey laziness, but it is the first thing we are willing to
give up. People can interpret these three percentages separately, or as a
whole comparatively. There are multiple claims in almost every statistic, and
other arguments based on logos that we may come across.
