Anything But My Coffee

Judging By Sites
When you open my Facebook page, you
see a quote from my favorite book as my “cover photo”. This might convey that I
like reading, but I actually just love that book. There are many things on all
of our pages that say a few things about us, true or not. The next part people
usually look at is your photos. I think my pictures truly depict my ethos, my
character. Many of my pictures are with the same few people. This conveys that I
love my few close friends, and would rather have that than a lot of not so
close friends. There are also a good amount of pictures of my boyfriend and I over
the last couple of years. These show our commitment to each other, part of my
character and morality. Through all my pictures, you see that I love to travel
and go on adventures and be outside. One example is the camp that I worked at.
I am smiling in all of my pictures from camp, conveying that the camp and my
experience working there means a lot to me.
Sometimes,
on social networking, I may say a few things that people do that bother me,
which people may see as me being negative. Everyone has things that bother
them, and people often use twitter and other social pages to vent about them. I
do know that future employers may look at my pages, and I am very careful about
what I put up and say. From all my pages, people can tell that I do not take
things too seriously, I love being silly, I love to have fun, I love music, the
sky, candy, doing my nails, and that I am absolutely obsessed with my sister’s
cat.
Obama
In Obama’s
Inauguration speech, he uses ethos to connect to his audience, and show his and
the countries character and morality. First off, he says “We, the people”
repeatedly, which is an important phrase for our country. He also says
“together” multiple times, which shows the character of our country, and its
history. These little phrases are just a start to the language Obama uses to
craft ethos in his speech.
Obama uses images to craft ethos
into his speech as well. “We are true to our creed when a little girl born into the
bleakest poverty knows that she has the same chance to succeed as anybody else,
because she is an American, she is free, and she is equal, not just in the eyes
of God but also in our own.” This image is a hopeful and beautiful image. It
shows the morality of America, and everything that it does for its people.
Obama shows his character by showing his care and understanding for everyone of
the country, no matter what background.
Obama uses body language constantly
throughout the speech. He is always looking around at people, clearly not
reading whatever he has prepared to say. This shows his character, it shows
that he cares that he is actually getting the message across, not just saying
the words. You can just tell by the way he uses emphasis on words that he has
so much emotion and energy, so much hope and love for this country. Obama uses
body language to show ethos in his speech, and the country reacts to it in a
way that shows he really connects with them.
“Our
journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like
anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the
love we commit to one another must be equal as well.” Obama uses ethos to get
this allusion across. The quote, referencing the gay marriage laws, is about
love and equality, and shows that he is for being equal when it comes to love,
no matter who you love. Obama shows he cares for the community, and shows his
morality towards them by using this allusion.
Obama
uses ethos in his speech, which really helps him get his point across, that he
is here to help this country, he loves this country, and that he proud to be
inaugurated. He never says this directly, but through the ethos he uses in his
speech, we, the people, can tell.

Macs are Better
This image’s audience is computer
buyers. Many people consider the “Mac vs. PC” debate when buying a new laptop
or computer. The cars have the logos in the back, of Windows, referring to
PC’s, and Apple, referring to Mac computers. Both car trunks are open, letting
us view where most of the car parts are.
The “windows” car looks like an older car.
It’s a ugly tan color, and the man next to it looks older as well. Under the
hood of the “windows” car, the parts are broken and torn, they look confusing
even if they are not broken, and they too have a darker, boring color to them.
The man standing next to it looks frustrated, like he is tired and about to
give up, even though the car is still broken. He looks like he could be wearing
the outfit of a car repairman. The “mac” car is white and blue, it has a sleek
shape, and everything under the hood looks clean and organized, with a simple
switch in the middle. It looks very “futuristic”, and the man is wearing blue
and white as well. The man is not fixing anything, and he looks happy, pleased,
and satisfied. He looks younger and energized, and his outfit even matches his
car. Like cars, many users like them to be fast. We can assume from this image
that the white car goes faster, because of its shape and sleekness.
These cars and the men standing
next to them symbolize the computers, and every aspect of them. Windows
computers are old and many are extremely slow. They are usually bigger and
heavier with less memory, and they break all the time. Once you get them fixed,
the problem may continue, leaving you to bring it back, paying for both
repairs, much like an older car. They crash and get viruses. Depicted by the
man, they are tiring and overwhelming, and difficult to fix. Macs, on the other
hand, do not break in the first place. They cannot get viruses, they are
sleeker, and have more memory. Any PC with as much memory as a mac will be 15
pounds heavier. The users are always pleased. They are easier to use and
manage. This picture shows computer
buyers that macs are better, faster, easier, newer, and are an investment. The
outfits and attitudes of the men prove that people like macs, its part of our
future. You may pay a little more, but you wont have to pay for it to get fixed
10 times.
This image shows that Macs are better, user-friendlier; last longer, and overall worth
it. They are completely different than windows computers, not just a better
version of them.

The Sun
Everything the sun represents, I strive to be. The sun, to me, mainly represents happiness. When children draw the sun at the corner of their drawings, they never forget to put a smile on it, and neither do I. Being happy is something I focus on in life, which some people simply forget about. It represents brightness, I do not mean in an intelligent way, but in a personality way. The sun also represents fun. Sunny days are always the best ones. The sun is warm. There is nothing better to me than the feeling of the sun on my back, or laying on that one spot of the rug that is warmed from the sun shining through your window. Another aspect of the sun is that its powerful. Power is not exactly something that I strive for, but I want to live to my full potential. Whatever I choose to be, I will be the best I can be. The sun is powerful, warm, bright, fun, happy. It really is amazing. I hope to be all that.
